What a wonderful gift

On Friday I had a house full of people, 3 moms and 10 kids to be exact. Us moms put up strawberry jam and the kids played. And played. And played. Got dirty. And played some more. But in the midst of all the chaos confusion excitement there was a knock at the door. It was our mail man with a package for me. :) It was my Mother's Day gift. My sweet and thoughtful DH ordered me the complete Homestead Blessings collection from Vision Forum. I was so excited when I opened the package to see all 11 DVDs. I have been eyeing this DVD collection for a long time (I think since last summer). I haven't had a chance to watch all of the DVDs yet, but from the ones I have seen, I have found a new zeal for the womanly arts.

The following evening, DH surprised me again with a trip to a baseball game. I love going to baseball games. It was so much fun to see DS1 and DS2 enjoy the game (and all the ballpark food that comes with it) It was a perfect night for baseball, not too hot, not too cold.

Sunday, Mother's Day, was spent at church. Our pastor doesn't do typical Mother's Day sermons where he praises mothers for being mediocre, but he gave us a message to encourage us to be better mothers than what we are now. He spoke about Jachobed and how she gave of herself, without praise or reward, to the lives of her children. He then spoke, that ,because of her willingness to sacrifice and her selflessness, and obedience to God, that it allowed God to do a mighty work in the lives of Moses, Aaron, and Miriam, and to use them to further His Kingdom. Now that is real encouragement.
